Sunday Sketches

I enjoyed Sunday Sketches last week and think it's a great little community. If you haven't heard of Sunday Sketches then you should definitely pop over to Sophia's blog.

I have a long list of things I want to include my portfolio; interesting perspectives, various lighting, mood changes and expressions, narrative feeling, character development, Children of different ages and ethnicities, children in proportion to adults,  landscapes, houses and animals.  Animals were my focus this week, particularly Australian animals. I think I may need to visit a zoo.

  1. Hi Hannah, I love this sketch... your little possum struggling to get all those berries... Sugar Glider... where did that come from... great name...

  2. A Sugar Glider is actually a small gliding possum and a marsupial that is native to Australia. I did some research and apparently they like berries :)

I like your list of things to include in your portfolio...the lighting and expressions are one topic my children's book illustration teacher just spent the whole class talking about...different uses of light! it's a good topic to study! have a great sunday! xo

  6. Cute sketch, I have heard of sugar gliders but wasn't sure what they looked like, now I know. Are they some sort of flying squirrel?

  19. Hi, Hannah. Glad you are taking part in SS. I love your portfolio wish list. That is a great idea. It can look daunting though - coming from one doing the same thing. I def have sketches I know I want in my portfolio. I love this little guy and yes, zoo trip are fun, if the animals are sleeping. I use Google images a lot for a more 'captive audience.' Can't wait to see what you produce for your portfolio pieces.
